Customer Reviews

Average Rating

After reviewing many different brands of tankless water heaters of this capacity, this seemed to be the best all around. Boy did it deliver. No problems with flow, temperature fluctuations, installation or quality. As this is an early review (installed two weeks ago), I have to say I'm very impressed with this product. The ability to preset the max temperature was also a plus in my opinion. The only problems that I ran into was with the instructions that indicated that the required wiring to install was 8 x 3, which I interpreted as 8/3 which is 3 strands of 8 gauge wire and also a ground wire. What it really indicated was that there needed to be 3 runs of wire of #8 gauge. The correct wiring required for my installation would be 2 runs of 8/2 (2 strands of 8 gauge wire) that do not have ground wires and then the third run of wire would be 8/2 with a ground wire. At the current cost of copper wire, it pays to shop around for the best price of wire. I found that buying 8/2 with ground was cheapest for me and that the three ground wires easily fit into the ground terminal in the water heater panel. (Great quality showing through). The water heater states that only one run with ground is required as the other two are grounded through the panel. Choose the less expensive way for your own situation. The other problem I ran into was the warning in the instructions about using GFI 50 amp breakers if required by state and local codes. I bought these at over $100 a piece thinking they were needed. After finding out that the water heater panel has no terminal to hook up the neutral wires that a GFI breaker has, I called customer service and was told that they recommend using regular 50 amp breakers. This was great news considering that the price of these are around $13 a piece. The instructions were perfect in all other regards. The key is to read them completely before installation and pay attention to details. The Tempra 29 was exactly what our whole house application with 1 bath needed. As an added bonus, when shopping online, the price I found was $80 dollars cheaper than is shown on Tanklessking.coms website. The cheaper price didn't show up until I put the water heater in my virtual shopping cart. That's when the price showed for the lesser amount. Thanks Tanklessking. From speed of shipment to customer support on the phone, everything made it a pleasure dealing with you. I get a lot of requests about how this installation went and your business is definitely mentioned.
